Substation Section Manager
About the role
Responsible for establishing the primary local Power Delivery relationship with a strategic client, including overseeing execution of projects, driving quality and delivery for that client, technical leadership, marketing new opportunities, and profitability to achieve business objectives.
Responsible for Project Management and oversight of substation projects of all sizes and complexity, including scope and/or proposal development, project team development and assignment, project execution, project closeout, and quality control, schedule, and budget management.
Should understand basic project management tools and techniques including client goals and objectives, contract types and project risk, work breakdown structures, project scope, schedule, and budget, financial management and controls, including earned value, and project closeout.
Supervise a small substation team and provide oversight over workload, quality, utilization, team morale, training, and performing annual performance reviews of team members.
Career Development: Coordinate with company recruiting staff and leadership to develop a hiring plan and grow the group based on client and worksharing needs.
Network Building: Establish a network of relationships with technical peers in other offices and leverage those relationships and resources in worksharing opportunities.
Business Development: Coordinate with marketing and technical leadership for business development.
Responsibilities

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
- FE, PE license strongly preferred, PMP in lieu of PE.
- 5+ years of substation design experience.
- 2+ years of project management.
- Experience and client relationships in California preferred.
- Strong client and project management skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 10 years experience.
- Professional registration, license or certification may be required based on role.
- Strong communication and listening skills.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments.
- Good leadership and organizational skills.
Skills
- Understanding of HDR Quality Management Systems (QMS) requirements, processes, and procedures.
- Independent work and ability to direct, mentor, train, and/or supervise one or more substation APM's, Project Engineers and/or junior design staff.

Pay
The expected compensation range for this position is $136,000 - $195,000 and depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
