Substation Project Manager
Overview
The Substation Project Manager will oversee substation design projects for a major electric utility client, focusing on areas such as yard layouts, plans, sections, and details, grounding, lightning protection, control building arrangements, and related systems.
Responsibilities
- Initiate projects and develop scope, schedule, and budget
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate engineering/design work phases
- Provide QA/QC oversight for deliverables
- Develop specifications, documents, and requirements
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards
- Maintain project tracking systems and support client coordination
- Monitor project budget, schedule, and resource allocation
- Control project costs and support financial performance
- Maximize project profitability and cost control
- Communicate effectively with project teams and clients
- Support development of tools, standards, and processes
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Business Administration degree
- 5+ years of experience creating and updating project scope, schedule, and budget
- 5+ years of experience working in substation design or similar with utility or consulting engineering firm
- Proficient using Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Excel, Word, and Outlook)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
- Basic written and verbal communication skills
- PMP Certification preferred but not required
- Experience with substation design and construction standards for Southern California Edison
- Experience with Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project

Salary will be between $140,000 to $170,000 per year, based on experience.
