About the role

We're seeking a Substation Project Engineer to join our dynamic team of Power Delivery professionals. Your role will involve supporting project execution, designing substations, and coordinating with various departments.

Responsibilities

  • Support preparing scopes, schedules, and budgets, ensuring they are met
  • Develop and deliver physical substation designs including yard layouts, plans, sections, and details
  • Deliver protection and control designs, such as panel arrangements, one lines/single lines, three lines, AC/DC schematics, equipment wiring, and relay panel wiring
  • Prepare electrical calculations for studies and reports (grounding, lighting protection, AC/DC load studies, etc.)
  • Prepare equipment specifications for procurement and/or factory acceptance testing
  • Coordinate design activities with other departments (Civil/Structural, Networks, Transmission Line, etc.)
  • Communicate and coordinate project activities with managers, clients, and others as needed
  • Work independently and may direct, mentor, train, and/or supervise efforts of less-experienced EITs and/or Designers
  • Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Engineers, Project Coordinators, or Designers, or BIM Technicians as needed
  • Perform other duties as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Foundational expertise in high voltage substation design, including both physical and protection & controls design
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in project execution within the Power Delivery, Substation Sector
  • Previous experience with an engineering consulting firm

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license
  • Previous experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office as well as standard Power Market Sector design software (examples include PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, and Revit)

Skills

Effective communication and coordination skills, ability to work independently, and proficiency in Power Market Sector design software are essential.
