Substation Physical Engineer
About the role
As a Career Substation Physical Engineer, you will work on projects for electric utilities at voltages from 12kV up to 500kV. This role offers exposure to how renewable energy integrates into the electric system and involves designing substation electrical projects using knowledge of digital logic design, AC and DC circuits.
Responsibilities
- Execute substation physical projects
- Interact with the internal team and clients to meet project needs
- Perform quality control checks on substation physical design projects
- Create and check bill of materials for substation physical projects
- Attend site visits at customer locations
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or related degree with 2+ years of related substation physical design experience
- Experience with grounding studies, lightning protection, and lighting studies
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with the internal team and clients
- Ability to meet deadlines under pressure situations
- Collaborative and leader who can work effectively in a team environment
- Self-starter who works independently with minimal direction
- Strong analytical skills and proven problem solver in both team and independent environments
- High level of computer competency
- Willingness to travel to project and/or client sites
Qualifications
- Engineer Intern (“EI” or “EIT”) professional certification
- Professional Engineer (“PE”) License
- Working knowledge of protection and control design
- Experience with bus calculation
- Experience with WinIGS or CDEGE
- Masters degree in related field
Skills
Knowledge of digital logic design, AC and DC circuits, and grounding studies/lightning protection and lighting studies are essential. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are also required.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $69,550.00 - $125,725.00 annually.
Schedule
This role offers a hybrid work schedule with 4 days in-office and 1 day remote.
