Substation P&C Engineering Associate
About the role
Mesa seeks a Substation P&C Engineering Associate to be responsible for the design and/or checking of deliverables associated with a high voltage substation. This typically includes, but is not limited to: single line diagrams, control house layouts, panel front views, elementary and/or schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, nameplate drawings, bills of materials, and cable schedules, as well as construction turnover documentation.
Responsibilities
- Must be able to complete assignments within budget and schedule with a high degree of accuracy
- Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills, and the ability to convey technical knowledge in simple and practical language
- Works under the direction of Senior Engineers and Project Engineers
- Independently evaluates, selects and applies engineering principles and practices relevant to the project requirements
- Defines project objectives, prepares design estimates, and defines project requirements and design approaches for large or complex projects
- Determines design approach and works with design team to prepare required design documents (e.g., drawings, specifications, calculations, etc.)
- Conceptualizes the initial design approach for a major phase of a large project, or has overall responsibility for the engineering work on a routine project
- Performs technical and coordination checking of deliverables and other project documents. Ensures deliverables comply with IEEE and/or client standards and meet applicable design requirements.
Requirements
Must have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in substation engineering or a closely related field.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar drafting software.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Qualifications
Must be licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of [State] or be eligible for licensure.

The expected compensation is a range determined by factors including but not limited to education, experience, and qualifications of the candidate, internal equity, work location, and hiring department’s fiscal resources.
