Substation Foreman

About the role

This role is for Substation Foreman positions in Texas for several locations.

Responsibilities

• Typical Substation construction from Greenfield to Remodels
• Backfilling and compacting Foundation drilling, digging and installation
• Lifting placing and setting structural steel
• Lifting placing and installing insulators and busswork
• Lifting, placing & installing substation equipment such as breakers, metering, transformers, arrestors etc.
• Moving and pulling control cable to medium voltage cable
• Placing finish stone and smoothing out the yard
• Ability & skill set to work in energized panels
• Knowledge base to understand DC systems as well as AC systems
• Supplying insight on project construction as far a control cable pulling, installation and termination
• Accountable for quality of work to ensure that it is being performed according to specifications

Requirements

• A minimum of one (4) years of experience in a Journeymen electrical role
• Substation, Commercial, or Industrial construction Journeymen electrical experience is a plus
• Journeymen electricians must have a valid journeymen electrician card or be able to pass the Journeymen electricians test per government standards
• Possess all of the skills required for assignment from the foreman for complete electrical installations
• In depth knowledge of all applicable OSHA codes and standards, as well as the National Electrical Code

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license
• Willing to stay out of town
• Available to travel as the project requires
• Willing to work over-time and be able to work extended periods of time
• Able to work around energized systems
• Able to lift in excess 50 pounds on a daily basis
• Able to work around energized systems
• Able to work around energized systems

Skills

• Knowledge of electrical, below grade or concrete foundation trade
• High Voltage Substation construction knowledge or experience

Pay

Commensurate with experience.

Schedule

Typical work weeks are 4-10 hour shifts or 5-10 hour shifts.
