Substation Engineering Project Manager
About the role
HDR Engineering is currently seeking multiple Substation Project Managers/Team Leads to join our growing and nationally ranked team of Power Delivery professionals in Texas. Locations include Dallas, Fort Worth, El Paso, Austin, Round Rock, San Antonio and Houston.
Responsibilities
- Managing and leading substation projects throughout the entire project life cycle, including scope and/or proposal development, project team development and assignment, project execution, project closeout, quality control, schedule, and budget management.
- Working independently and/or directing, mentoring, training, and/or supervising one or more Project Engineers, EITs, Designers, CADD Technicians and administrative staff.
- Leading the QA/QC process on projects per HDR’s Quality Management Systems (QMS) requirements with a commitment to delivering world class quality.
- Building, developing and supervising a local substation team and providing oversight over workload, quality, utilization, team morale, training, and performing annual performance reviews of team members.
- Performing client management, project management, staff supervision, and/or technical support activities.
- Leveraging existing staff across the company to execute work and deliver world class services to clients in the Texas region.
- Supporting and engaging in broader business development activities with existing and target clients in the region.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- 7 years related experience
- A minimum 2 years project management experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- MS Office and MS Project experience is required (Access experience would be plus)
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or ability to obtain it within 6 months, together with experience using project management tools, such as MSProject.
- Experience and client relationships in Texas considered a strong advantage
- Track record of working cooperatively with diverse teams; regional, department, and technical managers; and project staff preferred.
- Experience with transmission, distribution, communication, and system protection and planning projects, as well as public involvement, environmental permitting, and real estate acquisition.
- Experience working with Renewables developers and/or the interconnection of Renewables.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
This is a Full-time Employee position.
