Substation Engineer
About the role
The position is based in the downtown Chicago office, located on the 27th floor with beautiful views and close access to public transportation, including the L and Metra train lines. The work schedule requires a minimum of 3+ days in the office per week for collaboration. The office is undergoing renovations to add more space and a revamped lobby, providing a dynamic and modern work environment. The company offers a mix of remote work-from-home and in-office collaboration, focusing on employee growth through mentorship, training programs, and support for licensure and certifications.
Responsibilities
- Support the development of power-related design solutions.
- Aid in preparing engineering drawing packages, cost estimates, and technical specifications.
- Carry out routine engineering tasks with established methods, standards, and procedures.
- Execute assignments with clearly defined objectives and limited variables.
- Work independently on smaller-scale projects or provide support to higher level engineers on larger projects.
- Collaborate with Project Engineers, Engineers-in-Training (EITs), Designers, and BIM Specialists as needed to complete project tasks.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support project and team needs.
Essential Skills
- Substation design and utilities engineering.
- 2+ years of power/substation engineering experience.
- EIT Certification.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office and electrical design software.
- Experience with MS Project.
- Knowledge of power delivery and transmission line design.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $46.54/hr. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
