Substation Engineer

This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who wants to play a key role in designing and supporting projects that strengthen and modernize the power grid.

Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering and design of electrical substations and power delivery facilities.
• Manage projects from initial development through final delivery, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget objectives are met.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support project execution and successful delivery.
• Mentor and support junior engineers while helping develop technical best practices.
• Review and develop substation physical design layouts, protection & control (P&C) systems, grounding plans, one-line diagrams, and construction packages.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships while participating in project meetings and design reviews.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while tracking schedules, budgets, resources, and deliverables.
• Support QA/QC initiatives to maintain high-quality engineering standards across all projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 3+ years of experience in substation engineering, utility engineering, or power delivery projects.
• Experience with substation physical design and/or protection & control (P&C) engineering.
• Strong understanding of power systems and electrical engineering principles.
• Ability to develop and interpret electrical schematics, relay diagrams, and design drawings.
• Experience supporting engineering projects and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• EIT or PE license is a plus but not required.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $60.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
