Substation Engineer
Key Responsibilities
- Design protection and control systems for substations, transmission lines, and generation equipment.
- Specify substation equipment, including breakers, transformers, relay panels, switches, capacitor banks, and reactors.
- Develop protective relay, metering, and SCADA designs using industry standards, regulations, and system requirements.
- Analyze system data and ratings to support compliance reporting (SPP, NERC, FERC) and system upgrades.
- Prepare project scopes, cost estimates, and bills of material for capital projects and budget planning.
- Support operations and construction teams with troubleshooting, testing, failure analysis, and technical problem resolution.
- Review technical drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with company standards and codes.
- Provide guidance to designers and technicians by reviewing work and monitoring project progress.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Utility experience with substation, generation, or transmission protection and control systems preferred.
- Knowledge of power system protection, relays, wiring diagrams, schematics, and logic diagrams.
- Ability to develop relay settings, logic, and elementary drawings.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and databases preferred.

Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $80.00/hr.
