Substation Electromechanical Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Substation Electromechanical Engineer to join our team in Rochester, New York. Responsibilities

• Create one-line diagrams aligned with system study requirements
• Develop general arrangement and layout drawings
• Apply substation civil engineering knowledge
• Prepare major equipment bid specifications
• Perform detailed estimate and probability modeling
• Conduct structure calculations
• Perform insulation, A/C interference, static wire, and grounding studies
• Work with switchgear, breakers, transformers, and motor-operated disconnects
• Understand how mechanical linkages, springs, motors, and actuators interact with electrical controls
• Support breaker maintenance, mechanism troubleshooting, and equipment upgrades
• Assist with specifying electromechanical relays (older tech) or understanding how modern digital relays interface with mechanical equipment

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Six (6) years or more of Power System Engineering Experience
• Knowledge of distribution design
• Completion of Engineer-in-Training (EIT) is preferred
• Professional Engineer license is preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Strong communication and data processing skills
• Self-motivated, highly organized, and detail-oriented
• Must be able to report to the office (Tuesday-Thursday)

Pay

$90,000 - $100,000 annually
