About the role
Electrical Consultants, Inc. (ECI) is seeking substation design engineers in various locations across the U.S. Responsibilities include conceptual, preliminary, and final detailed design of new, upgraded, and expanded substations, material procurement, construction, and commissioning/startup support through energization. Design engineers assist in executing best-in-class projects, coordinate, manage quality control, and oversee designers, drafters, and support staff.
Responsibilities
- Conceptual, preliminary, and final detailed design of new, upgraded, and expanded substations
- Material procurement, construction, and commissioning/startup support through energization
- Development and delivery of physical, electrical, civil, and communication design studies, calculations, drawings, exhibits, and specifications
- Coordination, quality control, and oversight of designers, drafters, and support staff
- Specialized tasks coordinated with ECI's subject matter expert discipline groups such as Distribution Studies, Transmission Studies, Grounding Studies, Protection (relay coordination and settings), Civil Engineering, Communication (SCADA Integration), and Transmission & Distribution Engineering
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering required
- Design engineering experience is a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organization and planning skills
- Able to work in a team environment
- Commitment to quality and accuracy
- Willingness to meet fast-paced project schedules
- Commitment to progress towards PE licensure encouraged
- Fundamental knowledge of power engineering principles and applicable codes and standards
Qualifications
- Ability to pass client-mandated drug and background checks
- Occasional travel/driving required
- Subject to ECI's auto insurance carrier requirements
