Substation Commissioning Manger of Renewable Energy
About the role
This is a 1-year contract assignment (W-2) for a Substation Commissioning Manager of Renewable Energy on behalf of our client. You will work on behalf of the project Owner as a Commissioning Manager on a portfolio of renewable energy (wind, solar, battery storage) projects. You will be responsible for execution of assigned renewable power plant projects and teams as it relates to commissioning, start-up, and operational turnover. You will report to the Project Manager / Commissioning Director.
Responsibilities
- Ensure commissioning activities for assigned projects are performed with high quality and follow all safety policies.
- Responsible for coordination and management of EPC contractor personnel, OEM start-up personnel, third-party start-up contractors, and operations personnel on site, as it relates to site commissioning and startup.
- Responsible for project reliability at operational turnover with plants exhibiting as little lost time in initial operation.
- Ensure compliance with all project contractual documents to include Power Purchase Agreement and Large Generator Interconnect Agreement deliverables with local utility.
- Interface is made with Transmission Operators and Independent Service Operators to ensure project energization dates are achieved.
- Manage Client’s onsite commissioning personnel.
- Interface with project’s designated safety, engineering, and quality control parties.
- Progress reporting.
- Manage third parties and suppliers and of direct report team members.
- Schedule and planning understanding.
Requirements
- Electrical construction and commissioning means and methods knowledge including NEC and NFPAS.
- Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) integration and troubleshooting.
- E&I controls and instrumentation installation, startup and troubleshooting.
- Protection and Controls implementation and troubleshooting.
- Drawings review quality control inspection.
Qualifications
- 5+ years experience in on-site project support for renewable power generation project construction, start-up, and commissioning.
- 3+ years experience minimum working for an EPC in renewable power generation project construction, start-up, and commissioning.

Pay
The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $114.00/hr. to $119.00/hr.
Schedule
Location: Will start in Missouri or North Dakota and moving across other projects in the US. Per diem available.
