About the role

SpringPath Mental Health Services, part of the Sevita family, provides behavioral health services through Intensive Residential Treatment, Assertive Community Treatment, and Targeted Case Management programs. We embrace a person-centered approach that is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and recovery-oriented. The Substance Use Specialist works within an interdisciplinary team to provide intensive, frequent, wrap-around services to individuals with a diagnosis of serious and persistent mental illness and identified substance use that interferes with their goals and functioning.

The Substance Use Specialist is part of an individualized treatment team, carrying out rehabilitative interventions specific to co-occurring evidence-based practices. They conduct ongoing assessments to monitor the person's goals and functioning, typically serving 16 to 20 individuals per week. The role involves communicating interactions at daily team meetings and documenting them in the Electronic Health Record.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct clinical assessments to monitor individuals' goal areas and functioning on an ongoing basis.
  • Carry out interventions in the community and communicate interactions to the team in daily meetings and the Electronic Health Record.
  • Engage in resource maintenance and acquisition, coordination with external providers and natural supports, and monitor substance use to make recommendations.
  • Serve as the team expert on co-occurring evidence-based treatment approaches and substance use trends in the community.
  • Participate in crisis response at the lowest level of escalation, engage in risk mitigation and harm reduction practices.
  • Participate in a rotation of on-call shifts.

Requirements

  • Holds a bachelor's degree in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields from an accredited college or university, and/or has at least 4,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to persons with serious and persistent mental illness.
  • Holds a graduate degree in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields (alternative qualification).
  • Individuals with 2,000 hours of experience in the delivery of mental health services to adults will also be considered as a Mental Health Rehab Worker until full supervision hours are met.
  • LADC (Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor) certification is preferred.
  • All staff are supported in gaining certification as a Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner.
  • Travel as needed.

Physical Requirements

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
