Position Overview
The Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Clinical Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and supporting the clinical staff who provide direct services to individuals struggling with substance use disorders. This includes ensuring the delivery of high-quality care, compliance with relevant regulations, and providing professional development opportunities for staff. The SUD Clinical Supervisor will also provide daily in-patient therapy on a short-term basis to patients of our SUD clinic.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide regular supervision to clinical staff, including therapists, counselors, and case managers, ensuring adherence to ethical, legal, and regulatory standards.
- Review and provide feedback on treatment plans, case notes, and patient progress.
- Conduct individual and group supervision sessions to enhance staff professional development and competence.
- Develop and implement ongoing training for clinical staff on evidence-based practices, ethical standards, and new treatment methodologies.
- Promote staff engagement with continuing education and credentialing opportunities.
- Monitor and support staff performance, providing feedback and corrective action as needed.
- Offer clinical guidance and crisis management support when necessary.
- Provide direct individual clinical services to assigned patients maintaining all on-going clinical notes as required.
- Assess and monitor patient mental health symptoms and social needs and report changes in conditions or declines in behavior to multidisciplinary team at weekly treatment planning meetings.
- Lead therapeutic groups in evidence-based curriculum i.e. DBT/CBT/ACT/Process Groups.
- Oversee patient attendance and review programming calendar to ensure patients are attending at least 20 hours of scheduled programs a week.
- Ensure that patients are provided with appropriate referrals to other services (e.g., housing, employment, mental health care) as part of their recovery process.
- Assist with initial evaluation and assessment by clinic staff of their medical, nursing, dietetic, social and physical needs within 3 days of admission unless evaluation has been completed by referring agency within 30 days prior to admission.
- Collaborate with the admissions team to determine patient appropriateness for admission.
- Oversee the delivery of treatment services, ensuring that all patients receive individualized, culturally competent, and trauma-informed care.
- Ensure compliance with treatment protocols, assessment tools, and patient confidentiality laws.
- Monitor and evaluate all patient progress, collaborate to adjust treatment plans as needed, and ensure that goals are being met.
- Ensure all clinical documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with state, federal, and agency requirements.
- Ensure that all clinical activities meet the standards set forth by accrediting bodies and regulatory agencies.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment, ensuring clear communication across all levels of staff and departments.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to ensure comprehensive care for patients, including coordination with medical, social service, and community resources.
- Assist in the development and implementation of quality assurance programs to ensure high-quality care and adherence to best practices.
- Conduct regular audits of clinical records and treatment processes to identify areas for improvement.
- Participate in program evaluation and make recommendations for improvements in services or procedures.
- Support staff in managing patient crises and ensure that appropriate interventions are made.
- Act as a resource for staff in handling challenging patient situations, including risk management and safety protocols.
