Substance Use Disorder Counselor
About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to assist patients through medically assisted programs and provide techniques for managing opioid addiction. The counselor will conduct group and individual sessions to help with crisis management and coping strategies, evaluate patients’ progress during therapy, and collaborate with doctors, nurses, and therapists for optimal treatment outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Conduct individual initial assessment and evaluation interviews for service eligibility determination.
- Facilitate, establish, and review the initial treatment plan with each patient.
- Provide individual and group counseling services at regularly scheduled intervals; coordinate all services throughout treatment.
- Complete bio-psychosocial assessments.
- Involve families and significant others in the patient’s recovery process whenever possible.
- Develop and participate in individual or group patient teaching projects.
- Respond to patient grievances and complaints as needed.
- Develop aftercare and discharge plans; complete all discharge paperwork.
- Perform other related duties as determined by the supervisor.
Qualifications
- Minimum HS Diploma; Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s in a related field preferred.
- Previous experience working with chemically dependent individuals is a plus.
- LADC, LCMHC, LICSW, or MLADC certification highly desirable.
- Must demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude toward our patient population.
- Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check required.
