Substance Use Counselor/Counselor Trainee

Compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor or Counselor Trainee needed to assist patients through medically assisted programs and offer techniques for handling opioid addiction. The counselor conducts group and individual sessions to help with crisis management and coping strategies, evaluates patients’ progress during therapy, and collaborates with doctors, nurses, and therapists for optimal treatment outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct individual initial assessment and evaluation interviews for service eligibility determination
  • Facilitate, establish, and review with each patient the initial treatment plan
  • Complete bio-psychosocial assessment
  • Involve families and significant others in the patient’s recovery process whenever possible
  • Develop aftercare plans and discharge plans
  • Handle stressful situations and interact effectively with others
  • Perform other related duties as determined by supervisor

Requirements

  • Currently hold an ADT or ADT eligible status in the State of Maryland or higher
  • Previous experience working with chemically dependent individuals is a plus
  • Demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude toward our patient population
  • Satisfactory criminal background and drug screen

Pay

Salary ranges from $44,000 – $80,000 annualized. This position is non-exempt and overtime eligible with prior approval. The salary will be set based on experience, education, licensure, and training.
