Substance Use Counselor/Counselor Intern

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate Licensed Substance Use Counselor to assist patients through medically assisted treatments and offer techniques for managing opioid addiction. The counselor will conduct individual and group sessions to support crisis management and coping strategies, evaluate patients' progress, and collaborate with doctors, nurses, and other counselors to help patients achieve their overall treatment outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counseling services at regularly scheduled intervals.
• Coordinate all services throughout treatment and ensure efficient, effective delivery of counseling in a trauma-informed manner.
• Facilitate, establish, and review the initial treatment plan with each patient.
• Complete bio-psychosocial assessments.
• Develop aftercare and discharge plans.
• Collaborate with medical and counseling teams to support patient outcomes.
• Perform other related duties as determined by the supervisor.

Qualifications

• Must possess an LCDC (Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor) in the state of Texas.
• Previous experience working with chemically dependent individuals is preferred.
• Must demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude toward our patient population.
• Understanding of an EMR (Electronic Medical Records) system.
• Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check.
