About the Role

The Correctional Program Coordinator (Counselor) works within the Bureau of Correctional Recovery Services at Marion Correctional Institution to provide substance‑use treatment to incarcerated men and women. Using evidence‑based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI), the coordinator helps participants develop skills for a substance‑free, productive life.

Responsibilities

• Provide alcohol and drug group counseling and ancillary services to participants on your caseload.
• Complete assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge planning in the electronic health record.
• Engage clients and refer them to Medication‑Assisted Treatment, Narcan, and community linkage services.
• Monitor and evaluate participants’ progress in substance‑use programs.
• Develop continuing care plans.
• Facilitate two cohorts of treatment programming simultaneously (ratio 1:15 participants).
• Monitor volunteer activities and oversee support/fellowship meetings.
• Work a Monday‑Friday schedule, including one evening per week and occasional evenings as assigned.

Qualifications

Must hold current certification or credentials in one of the following:

• Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor II (LCDC II)
• Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor III (LCDC III)
• Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor (LICDC)
• Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) – Ohio Counselor & Social Worker Board
• Professional Clinical Counselor (PCC) – Ohio Counselor & Social Worker Board
• Professional Counselor (PC) – Ohio Counselor & Social Worker Board
• Licensed Social Worker (LSW) – Ohio Counselor & Social Worker Board
• Licensed Physician – Ohio Medical Board
• Licensed Psychologist – Ohio Board of Psychology
• Registered Nurse – Ohio Board of Nursing

Required Education

Official transcripts are required for all post‑secondary education, coursework, or degrees listed on the application. Working Conditions

• Potential exposure to dangerous inmates or juveniles.
• May be required to work weekends, travel, and on a fixed‑shift basis.
• Union‑hourly position covered by the Ohio Health Care SEIU/1199 bargaining unit.
• Selected applicants must complete a four‑week training program at the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation & Correction’s Corrections Training Academy in Orient, OH.
• All final applicants will be required to submit to a urinalysis for illegal drug use prior to appointment.

Compensation

$29.95 per hour, hourly position covered by the Ohio Health Care SEIU/1199 pay range schedule. New hires start at Step 1 with an opportunity for a pay increase after six months of satisfactory performance and annual raises thereafter.

Schedule

Full‑time, Monday‑Friday. Hours vary; one evening per week is required and additional evenings may be assigned. May include weekend work as needed.
