Substance Use Counselor

About the Role

The Substance Abuse Counselor will assist patients through medically assisted programs and provide techniques for managing opioid addiction. They will conduct group and individual sessions to help with crisis management and coping strategies, evaluate patients' progress during therapy, and collaborate with doctors, nurses, and therapists for optimal treatment outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct individual and group counseling sessions.
  • Coordinate care of assigned patients and present patient status and concerns with the treatment team.
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop and implement patient treatment plans according to State regulatory requirements.
  • Provide clinical services, patient care, education, and opiate addiction counseling.
  • Maintain excellent documentation and computer skills.
  • Perform other related duties as determined by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Must have a CADC or be working toward a CADC and able to obtain it within 2 years of employment while supervised.
  • Previous experience working with chemically dependent individuals.
  • Must demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude toward the patient population.
  • Understanding of an EMR system (electronic medical records).
  • Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check.

Pay

Salary ranges from $23.00 to $24.00 an hour. The salary will be set based on a variety of factors, including experience, education, specialty, and training.
