SUBSTANCE USE COUNSELOR

About the role
Serving as a Substance Abuse Counselor at Gateway Foundation, you will play a crucial role in helping clients navigate their journey towards recovery. Your responsibilities include:
- Completing comprehensive assessments of clients' substance abuse history and treatment requirements, and developing individualized treatment plans.
- Providing individual and group counseling, and facilitating didactic groups.
- Documenting treatment and discharge plans, and clients' progress and responses to treatment; maintaining related records and charts.
- Performing case management and contributing to client care monitoring.
Job Requirements
- A High School Diploma/GED.
- The ability to obtain Certification as a Missouri Alcohol Drug Counselor (MAADC), which Gateway can assist with within the first 30 days of employment.
- Gateway offers trainings and clinical supervision.
- Mandatory clearance from the Missouri Department of Corrections.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk and move about the facilities for up to two hours at a time, to monitor and interact with clients.
- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Using a keyboard and video display terminal to receive, retrieve, and/or audit information and data.
- Recording, proofreading, and checking documents and files for accuracy.
- Responding to telephones, and to hear and detect alarms and unusual noises.

Job Duties
