Substance Use Counselor
Description
The Substance Use Counselor will assist patients through medically assisted treatments and offer techniques for handling opioid addiction. They conduct individual and group sessions to support crisis management and coping strategies, evaluate patients' progress, and collaborate with doctors, nurses, and other counselors.
Responsibilities
- Conducts individual and group counseling services at regularly scheduled intervals
- Coordinates all services throughout treatment
- Facilitates, establishes, and reviews the initial treatment plan with each patient
- Completes bio-psychosocial assessments and develops aftercare and discharge plans
- Ensures efficient and effective delivery of counseling services to all patients in a trauma-informed manner
- Performs other related duties as determined by the supervisor
Qualifications
- Must have an LCDC license in the state of Texas
- Preferred previous experience working with chemically dependent individuals
- Positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude towards the patient population
- Understanding of an EMR system (electronic medical records)
- Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check required
