Substance Misuse Counselor- OHMS/OHCHS

Qualifications

• Maine LADC or CADC licensure
• Certifications and experience in substance use/misuse issues
• Understanding of addictions
• Knowledge of public school environment
• Experience working with adolescents
• Experience with program development
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Understanding of confidentiality and applicable laws

Responsibilities

• Aids students in addressing substance misuse through assessment, counseling, and referral services
• Provides educational information on substance misuse to school staff and community partners
• Collaborates with school counselors, social workers, and administration
• Develops and implements relevant curriculum for health teachers
• Facilitates classroom-based curriculum and works with community resources
• Gathers and analyzes data from surveys and develops action plans
• Serves on MTSS, PBIS, Attendance, and Student Support Services Teams
• Supports staff through training, materials, and consultations
• Performs other duties as assigned
