About the role

RiseWell Community Services is seeking a compassionate Full-Time Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team at our ACT (Assertive Community Treatment) Team in West Babylon, NY.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct services with a focus on substance abuse recovery and harm reduction on a mobile, multi-disciplinary treatment team for persons with severe and persistent mental illness.
  • Work as a collaborative, mobile, multi-disciplinary treatment team, both in office and in the community.
  • Aim to prevent relapse, teach valuable life skills, provide assistance, and connect individuals with essential community resources so they can move forward and thrive in work, school, home life, and social relationships.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field.
  • At least one year of experience in substance abuse counseling or a related field.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Pass a background check and drug screening.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices in substance abuse treatment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Pay

SALARY: $50,000 annually
