Substance Abuse Counselor in Training

About the Role

MedMark Treatment Centers is seeking a compassionate full-time Substance Use Counselor-in-Training to assist patients through medically assisted treatments and provide techniques for managing opioid addiction. The counselor will conduct individual and group sessions focused on crisis management and coping strategies, evaluate patients’ progress, and collaborate with doctors, nurses, and other counselors to support patients in achieving their overall treatment outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Familiarity with the 12 Core Functions of Counseling
• Provide individual and group counseling services; coordinate all services throughout treatment
• Complete bio-psychosocial assessments
• Conduct individual initial assessment and evaluation interviews for service eligibility determination
• Develop aftercare and discharge plans
• Facilitate, establish, and review initial treatment plans with each patient
• Ensure accurate and current clinical records are maintained in accordance with Federal and State Regulations governing NTP clinics
• Counsel 30-40 patients with documentation each month
• Other related duties as determined by supervisor

Qualifications

• Current addiction/substance abuse certification, CADC I certification or above, in the State of Georgia (credentialing agency of GACA or ADACBGA)
• Previous experience working with chemically dependent individuals
• Must demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude toward our patient population
• Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screen
