Substance Abuse Counselor I/II
Description Of Duties/Essential Functions
Under general supervision, receives, verifies for completeness and sorts written requests resulting from investigations, court orders and subpoenas for Certified copies of Illinois tax documents, requests from taxpayers for copies of tax documents, and notifications for Division Manager to provide court testimony; receives, researches and processes requests for better warrant addresses from the Comptroller’s Office; via personal computer, researches mainframe tax systems and various databases, microfilm and manual records to locate specific documents; performs retrieval/refile activity; generates letters, telephone calls, certifications for submission as evidence in court proceedings; maintains and updates various databases; updates taxpayer information on the mainframe via Personal Computer; compiles statistics to monitor source and types of errors; maintains a variety of control logs; will be assigned to other areas of the Division to perform clerical duties as workload demands.
Minimum Requirements
- Completion of high school and one year related office experience
- Working knowledge of alpha numeric sequencing
- Working knowledge of office practices, procedures and programs
- Working knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation
- Working knowledge of basic mathematics
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to operate commonly used manual and automated office equipment and perform routine maintenance
Physical Requirements
- Lifting and carrying batches of tax documents weighing 10 to 50 pounds
- Reaching above shoulder level
- Stooping and standing for sustained periods
- Walking
