Substance Abuse Counselor
About the Role
Substance abuse counselor will assist patients through medically assisted treatments and offer techniques for handling opioid addiction. The counselor conducts individual and group sessions to assist with crisis management and coping strategies, evaluates patients’ progress during counseling, and collaborates with doctors, nurses, and other counselors to help patients achieve overall outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group counseling services; direct service hours at regularly scheduled intervals; coordinate all services throughout treatment
- Ensure efficient and effective delivery of counseling services to all patients
- Conduct individual initial assessment and evaluation interviews for service eligibility determination
- Complete Bio-psychosocial assessment
- Respond, as needed, to patient grievances and complaints
- Develop aftercare plans and discharge plans
- Other related duties as determined by supervisor
Requirements
- Must have current LSAA, LADAC, LMHC, LMSW, LPCC, LCSW, or LMFT
- Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screen
