About the Role

Join our Portsmouth, New Hampshire team as a Submarine Technician (FT, ST, ET, IT). You will provide technical evaluation, perform installation, testing, and certification of AN/BVY-1 (ISIS) and AN/BPS (15,16,17) (RADAR) systems in accordance with NAVSEA installation procedures, onboard all classes of submarines. Assist DoD personnel with required corrective actions for these systems following DoD and Navy Maintenance Procedures. Additionally, you will support various engineering tasks related to installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, calibration, testing, and operation of systems in accordance with engineering specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Install, monitor, and service ISIS and RADAR equipment and systems at various Naval locations
  • Perform validations/verifications of various electronic systems
  • Review change proposals for equipment impacts
  • Assist in accomplishing Engineering Change Instructions
  • Develop technical/engineering data for Planned Maintenance Systems, technical manuals, troubleshooting procedures, drawing updates, operation procedures, and maintainability improvements
  • Establish and maintain filing systems, databases, and logs for tracking project status and inventory
  • Provide support to engineering and design staff in installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, calibration, testing, fabrication, construction, and operation of diverse electronic/mechanical equipment and systems
  • Comply with engineering documentation standards, engineering plans, and system specifications and test procedures
  • Provide technical data and evaluation for components installation, equipment maintenance, and systems consistent with engineering plans, layout, and contract requirements

Requirements

  • Active Secret US Government Clearance (US Citizenship is required to maintain this clearance)
  • High School Diploma/GED and five (5) years of practical experience OR degree/formal training and three (3) years of experience (Degree/Formal Training is defined as: Associate’s Degree in Engineering Technology, math, or science; or formal electronics training from a Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications; or a four-year electronics apprentice program)
  • Practical experience in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and/or repair of Submarine C5I systems/equipment
  • Experience in maintenance/repair and/or installation disciplines
  • Experience in design, preparation, and modification of engineering documents and drawings
  • Ability to travel up to 15%

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience across multiple submarine platforms and SWFTS systems
  • Experience with network configuration and BYG-1 combat control systems

Skills

  • Technical evaluation and certification of AN/BVY-1 (ISIS) and AN/BPS (RADAR) systems
  • Installation, testing, and troubleshooting of submarine electronic systems
  • Engineering documentation and drawing modification

Pay

This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA). The US hourly minimum for this role starts at $25.04. In addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour worked to comply with SCA minimums. The amount varies depending on the fringe benefits you select.
