Unity Environmental University seeks individuals interested in enhancing their teaching and curriculum development practices by leveraging emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, to design innovative online courses in Environmental Engineering. We are seeking part-time Subject Matter Expert (SME) faculty to support the development of new courses in our Environmental Engineering program.
- Courses are delivered asynchronously in 5-week terms and focus on applied, real-world projects spanning the duration of each course.
- SMEs will collaborate closely with the Program Director and Learning Experience Designer to develop engaging, applied, and accessible curriculum content aligned with industry and academic standards.
- Candidates may support development in one or more of the following courses:
- Water and Wastewater Treatment: Examines technologies and processes used in municipal and industrial water and wastewater treatment, including physical separation methods, chemical treatment processes, and biological treatment systems.
- Air Pollution Control Engineering: Explores sources, impacts, and control of air pollutants, covering topics like health effects of indoor and ambient air pollution, air quality policy and regulation, emissions estimation, air quality modeling, and technologies for controlling particulate and gaseous emissions.
Qualifications
- Specific expertise and experience applying environmental engineering or environmental modeling to real-world problems.
- Familiarity with teaching engineering concepts online.
- Experience with online teaching and/or distance learners is desirable.
- Ability to write clear, student-facing instructions.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Effective communication skills.
- Personal commitment to the environmental focus and mission of the University.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching, training, or mentoring adult or undergraduate learners.
- Background in online or distance education.
- Willingness to explore the potential of generative AI tools to enhance learning and/or workplace performance.
