Subject Matter Expert, Construction Contract Disputes

Core Responsibilities

  • Create work product and manage projects.
  • Manage coordination with team members.
  • Testify as an expert witness in court or arbitration.
  • Analyze construction plans and documents.
  • Quantify and allocate damages.
  • Document observable conditions at site inspections.
  • Collaborate with team or other stakeholders.
  • Manage assignments from initial call through deliverable submission and testimony.
  • Support Managing Director in monitoring relevant data.
  • Meet or exceed defined individual average utilization goals.
  • Travel as necessary to support clients, employees, and leadership.
  • Provide feedback to project team leaders.
  • Perform quality control of all assigned projects and work product.

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree and 15 years of related experience or a Master's degree and 12 years of related experience, with 7+ years in a leadership role.
  • Prior experience as a testifying Expert Witness in construction damages or cost-related cases.
  • Knowledge of analyzing construction claims, disputes, defects, and costs/standards.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings, performing schedule analyses, and understanding contract duties.
  • High-level proficiency in Excel and report writing.
  • Experience with construction software (e.g., Xactimate, Bluebeam, RSMeans, On-Screen Takeoff).
  • Working knowledge of business development, including client relationship management and proposal preparation.
  • Experience in providing reliable work product review.
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for complex construction claims.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and perform under high stress conditions.
  • Knowledge of computer operations and standard software packages.

  • Aware of and perform tasks supporting the organization’s vision, values, and business objectives.
  • Prioritize and complete daily tasks or projects efficiently and accurately.
  • Ensure consistent high quality on deliverables for all individual work product.
