Stylist

As a Stylist, you will engage with guests, consult on their hair care needs, and deliver quality professional services with an emphasis on their total look. This role supports the Experience Manager (EM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM) through a focus on performance, guest service, and operational compliance.

Responsibilities

• Perform hair services including hair design, haircuts, color, texture, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Meet or exceed sales goals of $800 average weekly sales and productivity targets for hair services by delivering exceptional guest service, contributing to store goals for retail and service sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink.
• Demonstrate business acumen by understanding key business drivers and identifying growth opportunities.
• Conduct product demonstrations to drive sales and enhance the guest service experience.
• Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives to deliver an unrivaled guest experience.
• Stay informed about new and existing industry trends, products, and services, and communicate their benefits to guests.
• Maintain prompt, regular attendance.
• Develop guest relationships through consultations and tailored retail/service recommendations.
• Uphold high standards of customer service and salon image, serving all guests—including walk-ins—in a timely and efficient manner.
• Collaborate with skin therapists and the retail team to provide a well-rounded, total-store guest experience.
• Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app, both in the salon and on the salesfloor.
• Attend mandatory trainings and meetings for continuous professional development.
• Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty policies, procedures, and standards, including safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols before, during, and after services.
• Follow state board guidelines and established service protocols to ensure a consistent and exceptional guest experience.
• Utilize booking and clientele systems to schedule return services and events.
• Communicate supply needs to the EM to ensure guest readiness at all times.
• Maintain cleanliness and operational standards in the salon, salesfloor, restrooms, backroom, break area, and other assigned areas.
• Adhere to the Ulta Beauty dress code and follow loss prevention best practices.
• Protect company assets by providing exceptional guest service and executing other operational tasks as directed.

Requirements

• Cosmetology license.
• Previous relevant salon experience is preferred.

Skills

• Proficiency with latest salon techniques for haircutting, haircolor, lightening, styling, texture, treatment, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing services (where applicable), or an aptitude to develop these skills.
• Proficiency with salon equipment and chemicals needed to perform technical work.
• Ability to demonstrate, recommend, and sell pro hair care and makeup products.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships and clientele.

Schedule

• Work a flexible schedule to include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Working Conditions

• Frequent mobility during shift.
• Continuous lifting and/or moving up to 10 lbs. during shift.
• Frequent stooping, kneeling, bending, reaching, twisting, and crouching during shift.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time during shift.
• Continuous and/or frequent coordination and manipulation of objects during shift.

Pay

The pay range for this position is the higher of $11.00 - $13.95 per hour or services pay for the workweek pursuant to the Company’s Services Compensation Plan. Exact pay will be based on factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, level, shift, geographic location, and business needs. Eligible associates may also earn overtime pay as required by applicable law and tips paid by service guests.
