Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Previous experience working with students with special needs preferred
- Flexible to meet changing student needs
- Strong tutorial skills required
- Ability to relate well with students, staff, and parents
- Desire to see young people succeed
- Positive attitude and ability to work independently
- Strong office computer and communication skills
- Knowledge of child guidance principles and practices
- Basic instructional methods and techniques
- Willingness to supervise students in community settings
- Participation in Special Education Department training
- Prefer candidates with: Two years of college experience, two-year college degree, Para-Pro Assessment, one year or 1000 hours of previous employment, annual school-level evaluations, 48 credit hours of college level classes, or Child Development Associate (CDA) credentials

Special Education Assistant: Assist teachers with a variety of instructional, clerical, and student management tasks for special education students in either special education or general classrooms. Responsibilities include supporting teachers with daily tasks, managing student behavior, and providing academic support. Must have a high school diploma or GED, previous experience with special needs students, and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
