About the role
Reporting to the Sales Manager, the STUDIO Fitting Specialist works in partnership with all store associates and the store leadership team to provide an exceptional shopping experience and execute company directives. This role is a champion of the PGA TOUR Superstore ‘Customer First’ philosophy, delivering a world-class, appointment-based club fitting experience aligned with our Mission Statement: “Inspire People to Play Their Best, and Grow the Game.”
The STUDIO Fitting Specialist provides a unique fitting experience using advanced technology, fitting components, and techniques beyond our free club fitting service. This role maximizes the customer experience by maintaining clean, organized, and well-stocked work areas, ensuring fitting technologies are operational, and conveying information in a respectful, easy-to-understand manner. The Specialist expands industry knowledge through vendor training, industry resources, and collaboration with other associates, using expert product knowledge to make effective equipment recommendations and drive incremental sales.
Responsibilities
- Provide outstanding customer service by greeting and acknowledging every customer, listening to their needs, and offering applicable solutions from our Service offerings and merchandise selection.
- Execute a specialized fitting experience, illustrating specialty golf club components available from key vendor partners.
- Assess each customer’s needs by determining their level of play and recommending the most effective product for them.
- Educate customers on club and ball technology, club components, and fitting techniques to help them make informed purchase decisions based on desired results and realistic performance expectations.
- Be an expert in the use of industry-leading club fitting technology, including launch monitors and OEM-specific fitting technologies.
- Teach and train other associates on fitting techniques and product/set makeups.
- Address and resolve customer concerns to their satisfaction.
- Maintain a high level of product and industry knowledge.
- Complete work lists and bulletin directives in a timely manner.
- Assist with floor moves, implement merchandising standards, and maintain display consistency as directed.
- Walk work area(s) daily to correct issues, ensure merchandising standards are met, maintain a clean and safe shopping environment, and suggest improvements to the Services supervisor.
- Adhere to approved loss prevention programs to minimize inventory shrinkage and support store profitability; provide feedback on loss prevention issues or opportunities.
Requirements
- Three to five (3-5) years of club fitting and golf equipment sales experience preferred.
- Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) training; vendor training certification is a plus.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, climb ladders, move throughout the store, and lift a 30 lb. box overhead.
- Flexible availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.
- Occasional travel may be required for continuing education or new-store setup and training.
Qualifications
- Communication: Strong listening and interpersonal skills, with good verbal and written communication abilities. Must collaborate effectively with other associates to execute company initiatives.
- Analytical: Good business skills with the ability to develop solutions to common problems, identify opportunities, and improve sales and operational processes.
- Computer: Basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office and the Internet. Ability to learn scheduling software, simulator software, and basic reporting functions.
- Organization: Ability to manage multiple priorities, accomplish tasks throughout shifts, and provide excellent customer service.
- Skills:
- Implement established and advanced fitting principles using new or advanced fitting technology.
- Apply an understanding of ball flight principles to evaluate individual customer needs.
- Identify and describe characteristics of club components and their impact on ball flight, fitting processes, and industry tools.
- Effective teacher/trainer capable of working with other associates to develop their fitting skills and techniques.
- Education: Knowledge, skills, and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a G.E.D. or high school diploma.
