About the role
The Health and Wellness Ambassador serves as a campus advocate for health and wellness by promoting events and enhancing the visibility of wellness initiatives throughout the campus community. The goal is to foster a culture of well-being by actively promoting health-related events, increasing awareness of the Registered Dietitian (RD) as a resource, and serving as a visible and approachable advocate for student health and wellness initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Assist in Dining Membership tabling events and activities around campus to educate and sell meal plans and promote nutrition and health and wellness topics.
- Set up, execute, and clean up Health and Wellness events as well as Take 15 in conjunction with the RD if on campus that day.
- Run events independently with help of management if the RD is not on campus.
- Create menus for cooking classes.
- Work on Canva projects for upcoming events.
- Collaborate with marketing to promote Health and Wellness on social media.
- Assist in marketing events and food service tasks as appropriate.
- Hang allergen signage.
- Review labeling for National Menu Labeling, allergens, and ingredient transparency.
- Complete required training and follow policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by manager.
- Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of up to 25 lbs.
Requirements
- Must be a currently enrolled Saint Joseph's University student.
- Students enrolled in nutrition programs, exercise science programs, or related programs is preferred but not required.
- Ability to provide courteous and professional service in a diverse campus environment.
- Ability to follow instructions, complete assigned tasks, and work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong communication, dependability, punctuality, and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain professionalism during busy or high-volume service periods.
- Willingness to learn food-service procedures, point-of-sale systems, and safety requirements.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
- Must successfully complete all required onboarding, food safety, and operational training.
