Internship Program

The government has launched an internship program to assist visually impaired and elderly people. Students will gain training in various institutions and care centers and provide assistance to the needs of visually impaired and senior citizens. Extensive guidelines and frameworks have also been released.

Eligibility

Students who are in their second or fourth semester after graduation or post-graduation are eligible for this program.

Types of Internships

• Field-based internships where students will work directly with residents in homes, helping with daily routines, home maintenance, and more.

• Research internships focusing on evaluating community programs and conducting case studies.

Guidelines and Conduct Code

The department has imposed strict rules on interns, including not taking photos or videos inside the homes without permission from relevant authorities. Home residents' privacy must be maintained, and interns cannot share any reports or photos on social media platforms.

Placement

Interns will be placed in different homes such as Aashay Kiran (Rohini), Old Age Homes, and hostels for visually impaired students. Their main responsibilities will include assisting with daily routines, counseling, behavior management, providing support in mental health and medical programs, and maintaining records and data.

Cost

This internship is completely free of cost. The department will not charge any fees from interns, nor will they provide any stipends.

Application Process

Students can apply directly or through their colleges. The final selection will be made by the Director of Social Welfare.
