Essential Functions
- Assist Technician mentor with performing basic automotive and truck maintenance services including, but not limited to, oil changes, brake repair, tire replacement and repair, and general preventative maintenance
- Aid Technician mentor with assembly, disassembly, and troubleshooting
- Clean and inspect parts
- Maintain a clean, efficient work area and assist in keeping the shop neat and organized
- Safely operate and maintain a variety of hand and power shop tools
- Perform additional duties related to the repair of vehicles as required and assigned by Technician mentor or Supervisors
- Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order
- Communicate with Service Advisor and/or Dispatcher if additional work is needed
- Understand the flow of repair orders and service department functions at the dealership level
- Maintain and wear all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer and in accordance with company policies
- Comply with all laws and regulations pertaining to working with hazardous materials. Report any deviations to management immediately
- Gain an understanding of the flow of repair orders and service department functions at the dealership level
- Regularly engage and interact with Service Advisors to understand the importance of communication and customer satisfaction
- Achieve skill benchmark goals and complete scheduled progress reports with the program team and high school counselors
- Follows all attendance and punctuality standards with adherence to timekeeping standards
- Follows the Company Code of Business Ethics and Conduct
- Understands and follows all work rules and procedures and follows lawful directions from Supervisors
- Upholds the company's non-disclosure and confidentiality policies and agreements
- Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with company policy
- Attends pertinent training on request
- Attends company meetings as required
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a vocational or technical training program in automotive technology preferred.
Skills
Basic mechanical aptitude, ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical manuals, strong attention to detail, ability to follow verbal and written instructions, strong problem-solving skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, proficiency with common hand and power tools, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, ability to communicate effectively with customers and co-workers, ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends, ability to work in a safe and healthy environment.
