Student Teaching - Spring 2026

Responsibilities

• Become an integral part of the instructional staff at your schools.
• Accept willingly duties commensurate with your role as a teacher.
• This may include in-service and parent conferences, supervisory duties (i.e., cafeteria duty, hall duty, etc.), as well as extra-curricular activities.
• Maintain a receptive attitude toward your cooperating teachers.
• Follow their instructions and advice.
• Partake in the responsibilities and obligations, curricular and auxiliary, of your cooperating teachers.
• Obtain a copy of the teacher policy manual for your school, and study it thoroughly.
• Follow those procedures and obey those rules and regulations as if you are one of the faculty.
• Be a positive role model for your students.
• Exhibit good manners, habits, behavior, and language.
• Present the best possible image, starting with professional dress and appearance.
• Comply with all reasonable requests made by your cooperating teacher, including helping with routine tasks, attending meetings, correcting papers, etc.
• Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Demonstrated general knowledge of child growth/development and behavior characteristics.
• Demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse ethnic groups.
• Demonstrated organizational and interpersonal skills required to meet the goals of the position.
• Demonstrated initiative and a willingness to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Demonstrated effective communication skills both in oral and written form.
• Demonstrated ability to work with children with disabilities.
• Demonstrated flexibility to cope with the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
• Demonstrated willingness to remain current with the latest developments in the profession.

Qualifications

• Frequent standing, walking, pushing, and pulling.
• Moderate lifting and carrying.
• Some stooping, bending, and kneeling.
• Limited exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures.
