Qualifications

  • Professional Educator License (PEL) with a school counselor, school social worker, or school psychologist endorsement.
  • Knowledge and experiences in addiction counseling, MTSS and post-high school planning preferred.

Responsibilities

  • School-based Student Support Specialists:
    • Support the social-emotional well-being and mental health of the entire student body through pre-scheduled and on-call appointments.
    • Serve as a resource for the school's MTSS teams.
    • Deliver tiered interventions and group guidance related to social-emotional learning and mental health.
    • Connect families with school and community resources.
  • District-based Student Support Specialists:
    • Develop and lead district-wide efforts in response and prevention of addiction including addiction counseling.
    • Develop and lead district-wide MTSS coordination for behavior, academic and social-emotional learning and mental health.
    • Assist in post-high school planning and transitions for students in alternative high schools.
    • Serve as a member of the crisis support team.
    • Connect families with school and community resources.
