Hill Jr. Library, serving the main campus, combines tradition and innovation, housing special collections, a gallery, and vibrant spaces for making, digital media creation, data analysis, and collaboration. Three branch libraries focus on design, natural resources, and veterinary medicine.

The Student Success Librarian will be part of the Learning Spaces & Services (LSS) department (11 librarians, 1 EPS, and 6 support staff), which provides dynamic services, spaces, and technologies to enable learning, discovery, and research. The department leads programs supporting student learning, access to tools, and undergraduate success, including the Technology Lending Service and management of spaces like the Learning Commons, Makerspace, Gaming and Virtual Reality Studio, and Digital Media Studios.

Responsibilities

• Student Success and Engagement: Lead the Libraries’ engagement with university programs (e.g., New Student Orientation, Wolfpack Welcome Week) to introduce students to library services, spaces, and expertise. Coordinate the Personal Librarian Program and collaborate with campus partners to connect students with resources supporting academic success and well-being.
• Instruction and Public Service: Teach library instruction sessions for undergraduate courses (e.g., ENG 101, COM 110) and serve as an Ask Us Service Manager, supervising student employees, making operational decisions, and providing virtual reference services.
• Service and Professional Responsibilities: Serve on library-wide committees, task forces, and teams. Engage in professional development, contribute to the field, and participate in service activities. The position reports to the Associate Head, Learning Spaces & Services.

Requirements

• Relevant professional experience, such as delivering information/research services in an academic library, or experience in teaching, training, library instruction, or outreach.
• Demonstrated engagement with a user community and commitment to creative, high-quality library services and facilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects from planning to completion, including coordinating with cross-departmental collaborators and maintaining project documentation.
• Ability to design, implement, and sustain new services and programs.
• Ability to foster an environment of belonging and well-being.
• Clear and knowledgeable communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Evidence of ability for professional development and contribution.
