About the Role
Young Life employees and volunteers are expected to:
- Profess a belief in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord.
- Subscribe to the statements and policies required of all Young Life staff, including the Young Life Statement of Faith.
- Be ready, willing, and able to fulfill ministry functions as required by the organization.
- Refrain from conduct and statements that detract from the biblical standards taught and supported by Young Life.
- Abide by all policies and practices of Young Life, including those related to religious belief or ministry activities.
Responsibilities
Ministry Functions
Spiritual Development- Develop a yearly personal growth plan fostering a vibrant spiritual life, including solitude, retreat, reflection, prayer, and commitment to understanding God’s Word.
- Seek and maintain relationships and disciplines within an active church community.
- Actively participate in the spiritual life of the Young Life community.
- Lead teams and individuals in spiritual development.
- Meet with volunteer leaders and area leadership regularly.
- Recruit and train new leaders to build a team reflecting the community.
- Model excellence in contact work, club, Campaigners, and camping.
- Attend and engage with area leadership as assigned.
- Raise financial support as directed and maintain donor care practices.
- Communicate ministry updates and progress to donor partners.
- Assist with camp fundraisers and attend occasional committee and adult functions.
- Engage in all three levels of contact work.
- Lead a team to conduct Young Life club and Campaigners/discipleship ministry.
- Implement summer and school-season camping strategies.
- Potentially serve on summer staff or at a Young Life property under the area director’s direction.
- Adhere to all Young Life policies and procedures, maintaining professionalism in office hours, dress, conduct, and time management.
- Set yearly ministry and personal goals; review them regularly.
- Assist with office administration as necessary.
- Complete expense reports clearly and timely.
- Perform other duties aligned with gifts, experience, and area needs.
Training
Regional TrainingCertain regional training events may be required at the regional director’s discretion.
Area Training- Work through job assignments under the supervision of the area director or assigned mentor.
- Receive individualized training to develop spiritual maturity and personal character.
- Focus on an individualized program to gain competency in ministry skills (e.g., The 5 C’s).
- Become familiar with area strategy and ministry health as assigned.
- Learn personal fundraising principles, including familiarity with Basic Elements for Part-Time Staff.
- Take advantage of Young Life discipleship experiences (e.g., summer staff, discipleship focus, adventure camping).
Requirements
- Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Pursuing a college degree.
Pay
The anticipated salary range for this position is $6,115.20–$7,488, depending on relevant education, experience, and location.
