About the Role

Young Life is a Christian ministry focused on evangelism and discipleship. All employees are required to sign a Statement of Faith and must profess a belief in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord. Employees are expected to integrate their faith into their work and personal life, adhering to biblical standards and Young Life’s policies.

This role involves spiritual, leadership, resource, and direct ministry functions, as well as administrative support. Employees must actively participate in the spiritual life of the Young Life community and engage in personal spiritual development.

Responsibilities

  • Spiritual Development
    • Develop and follow a yearly personal growth plan that includes solitude, retreat, reflection, prayer, and Bible study.
    • Maintain active participation in a church community and the spiritual life of the Young Life community.
    • Lead teams and individuals in spiritual development.
  • Leadership Development
    • Meet regularly with volunteer leaders and area leadership.
    • Recruit, train, and build a leadership team that reflects the community.
    • Model excellence in contact work, club, Campaigners, and camping for other leaders.
    • Attend and participate in area leadership as assigned.
  • Resource Development
    • Raise financial support as directed and maintain donor care practices.
    • Communicate ministry updates and progress to donor partners.
    • Assist with camp fundraisers and attend occasional committee and adult functions.
  • Direct Ministry
    • Engage in all three levels of contact work.
    • Lead or participate in a team to conduct Young Life club and Campaigners/discipleship ministry.
    • Implement a summer and school-season camping strategy.
    • Potentially serve on summer staff or at a Young Life property under the direction of the area director.
  • Ministry Support
    • Adhere to all Young Life policies and procedures, including office hours, dress code, and conduct.
    • Set and review yearly ministry and personal goals.
    • Assist with office administration as needed.
    • Complete expense reports in a timely manner.
    • Perform other duties as assigned, aligned with gifts, experience, and area needs.
  • Training
    • Participate in regional training events as required by the regional director.
    • Work through job assignments under the supervision of the area director or mentor.
    • Receive individualized training to develop spiritual maturity and ministry skills (e.g., The 5 C’s).
    • Become familiar with area strategy and ministry health.
    • Learn personal fundraising principles, including familiarity with Basic Elements for Part-Time Staff.
    • Take advantage of Young Life discipleship experiences (e.g., summer staff, discipleship focus, adventure camping).

Requirements

  • Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Pursuing or holding a college degree.

Pay

The annual full-time salary range for this position in the U.S. is $24,550.00 - $29,275.00, depending on relevant education, experience, and location.
