About the role

The Cincinnati Public Schools invite applications for Department of Student Services Manager. This position is a key member of the Student Services team.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate collaboration to/with schools team, to support students with disabilities
  • Demonstrate an advanced understanding of instructional strategies for students with multiple disabilities, autism, developmental delay, specific learning disabilities, and behavior disorders
  • Oversee/manage a caseload of students with disabilities, and the implementation of their IEP plans in: inclusive, self-contained and pull-out settings
  • Ensure appropriate delivery of both special education instruction and related services
  • Ensure compliance with all special education documentation in accordance with state, local, and federal laws
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians concerning the special education process, including the process for referrals, evaluations, annual IEPs/504 plans, and re-evaluations, as well as parental rights granted by ESSA
  • Facilitate ETR, IEP, or 504 meetings using a strengths-based and family-centered approach
  • Coordinate with student’s special education team to ensure all documents are completed in a timely manner, according to state, local, and school policies and procedures
  • Provide training and technical assistance to special education staff including teachers, related service providers, and support service professionals
  • Support the planning and implementation of special education initiatives
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge regarding developing special education issues, including changes in federal and local special education policy
  • Demonstrate strong skills in partnering with families
  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of colleagues, parents, families, and community members
  • Be committed to meeting the needs of a diverse student population
  • Possess excellent time-management skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently
  • Possess a passion for urban public schools
  • Adhere to a high level of professional and ethical standards

Qualifications

  • Certification: Must possess or be eligible to obtain a State of Ohio Administrative Certificate
  • Experience: Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a teacher, or in a teacher related position, and three years of administrative (or other leadership) experience in the area of special needs
  • Training: Master's degree in field related to exceptional education or pupil services (e.g., special education, curriculum, administration, psychology or social work) required
