Graduate Education at Missouri S&T supports graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, faculty, and staff through advising, degree milestones, thesis and dissertation review, policy guidance, professional development, and administrative support.
Responsibilities
- Advise graduate students regarding academic policies, degree requirements, procedures, and university resources.
- Process graduate student forms, records, and related documentation.
- Develop and maintain degree audits based on approved plans of study and monitor student academic progress, enrollment status, and milestone completion to ensure compliance with university requirements.
- Review active student records, analyze enrollment, milestone, and graduation reports, and place enrollment holds when appropriate while communicating necessary actions to students and academic departments.
- Review graduation applications and audits to determine completion of degree and certificate requirements and approve or deny final degree audits based on university standards.
- Communicate outstanding academic and graduation requirements to students, faculty, and academic departments and recommend solutions consistent with university regulations and best practices.
- Provide guidance and support to faculty and staff regarding graduate policies, procedures, and complex student situations.
- Maintain and update graduate student reports and records as needed.
- Build collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, and campus partners to support graduate student success and efficient operations.
- Coordinate, prepare, and distribute agendas and related materials for Graduate Council, Graduate Faculty, executive committee, and associated committee meetings.
- Schedule, attend, and facilitate meetings for the Graduate Council, Graduate Faculty, membership committee, awards committee, and ad hoc committees, and communicate outcomes and action items as appropriate.
- Generate and distribute communications on behalf of the Graduate Faculty president and support ongoing faculty governance activities.
- Monitor standing committee membership, coordinate committee elections as needed, and ensure continuity of committee operations.
- Coordinate and administer the Outstanding Graduate Faculty and Staff Awards process, including planning, communication, and organizational support.
- Review theses and dissertations to ensure compliance with established Missouri University of Science and Technology formatting requirements and specifications.
- Meet with students to troubleshoot formatting concerns and provide guidance on document preparation standards.
- Evaluate office practices, workflows, and policies to improve operational efficiency, compliance, and student support outcomes.
- Gather feedback from students, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders regarding graduate policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with team members and campus partners to develop policy and procedure recommendations for consideration by the Graduate Council and Graduate Faculty.
- Assist international graduate students in understanding and maintaining compliance with visa requirements while completing academic programs and participating in CPT/OPT opportunities.
- Participate in discussions and provide recommendations regarding office responsibilities and processes that impact graduate student support services.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of graduate education operations and institutional goals.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

- Strong communication skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively both as part of a team and with a highly diverse population.
Pay
The anticipated hiring range for this position is $22.10 to $24.00 hourly. Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
