This position is designed for post-baccalaureate individuals participating in a UTMB post-baccalaureate research education program with major responsibilities of research and academic work.
Responsibilities
- Learns and masters basic laboratory techniques taught in a classroom-setting or in a research laboratory to gain proficiency for performing laboratory or computational research
- Works with research faculty to define a research plan and project and carries out research on defined project(s)
- Reports results of the research in written and verbal reports
- Performs research work which may comprise of laboratory work or computational/data-based work under the direction of responsible faculty
- Attends any and all scheduled meetings with exceptions for excused absences, and participates in activities that include individual development planning and writing assignments
- Attends scheduled meetings with mentoring team members including graduate students and postdoctoral members
- Provides student tutoring and academic skills building as related to professional training
- Conducts literature and database research as needed for the research
- Adheres to all policies and regulations of UTMB
- Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure
- Performs related duties as required to fulfill personal academic requirements
