Student Research Assistant, Population Health & Health Disparities

This position is designed for post-baccalaureate individuals participating in a UTMB post-baccalaureate research education program with major responsibilities of research and academic work.

Responsibilities

• Learns and masters basic laboratory techniques taught in a classroom-setting or in a research laboratory to gain proficiency for performing laboratory or computational research
• Works with research faculty to define a research plan and project and carries out research on defined project(s)
• Reports results of the research in written and verbal reports
• Performs research work which may comprise of laboratory work or computational/data-based work under the direction of responsible faculty
• Attends any and all scheduled meetings with exceptions for excused absences, and participates in activities that include individual development planning and writing assignments
• Attends scheduled meetings with mentoring team members including graduate students and postdoctoral members
• Provides student tutoring and academic skills building as related to professional training
• Conducts literature and database research as needed for the research
• Adheres to all policies and regulations of UTMB
• Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure
• Performs related duties as required to fulfill personal academic requirements

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in science or related field
