About the role
This position supports the Department of Medicine/Tulane Cancer Center in various breast cancer research tasks, working directly with pre-clinical cancer research models, including cell culture and general cell and molecular biology techniques.
Responsibilities
- Laboratory equipment maintenance (autoclaving, solution preparation, cleaning)
- Mammalian cell culture
- Setup and perform in vitro live cell imaging experiments to measure the growth, viability, and migratory capacity of cancer cells in response to various chemical inhibitors or to genetic modifications of cell models
- Perform qPCR, western blots, and immunostaining of tissue sections
- Assist with recordkeeping for animal experiments
Requirements
- Active enrollment as a student at Tulane University
- Prior completion of general biology and general chemistry courses, with preference for students who have also completed cell & molecular biology, molecular biology, and/or genetics courses
- Availability to conduct research at the downtown Tulane campus for at least one semester
