Student Radiology Tech-PRN

Student radiology technologists will aid with imaging exams, assist with diagnostic exams, perform clerical duties including record keeping, and maintain high-quality services. Communicates effectively with patients, families, and all care providers. Must be actively enrolled in an accredited Radiology program.

Responsibilities

• Performs all diagnostic routine procedures (minor trauma, fluoroscopy, minor surgery, and routine studies)
• Acquires requisition and checks for appropriate clinical information
• Obtains appropriate supplies and prepares room for patient
• Assesses patient’s condition and level of cooperation to make appropriate judgment of proper care
• Notifies nurse and charts all infiltrates and reactions
• Quality checks films before sending to radiologist, ensuring markers and all pertinent information are included for appropriate dictation
• Writes additional information on request as needed
• Keeps room cleaned and stocked at all times
• Responds to codes and other emergency situations appropriately
• Explains procedure to patient, introduces self, and identifies department
• Informs patients and families of all delays (including calling inpatient's room when procedure is delayed more than 1 hour)
• Assists other technologists when not busy in assigned area
• Charges procedure and supplies when exam is completed
• Adds surgical charges when needed
• Operates the PACS system appropriately and verifies studies before sending to archive
• Reports equipment problems to supervisor, in-charge tech, and documents confirmation numbers
• Maintains student confidentiality

Requirements

• High School Degree or equivalent
• 0-2 years of work experience
• Actively enrolled in an accredited Radiology program
