Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of anatomy.
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge and skill and understanding of image quality.
- Communicate to patients the nature of the tests and relieve their anxiety.
- Understand Radiographic Positioning, Radiographic Technique, Radiation Safety, Imaging Equipment, Infection Control and Quality Control techniques.
- Present a pleasant and helpful manner to patients, physicians, subordinates and other members of the department staff.
- Maintain a work area free from hazards.
- Perform routine diagnostic imaging studies, as needed.
- Provide services to all patients, families, and physicians serving this population.
- Ensure that patient examinations are performed in an accurate and timely manner; not to exceed 30 minutes.
- Provide accurate patient positioning, computer entries and filming.
- Maintain an effective use of time, report availability accordingly.
- Assist in maintaining a safe working environment.
- Maintain knowledge of equipment performance.
- Report malfunctions to supervisor.
- Convey to supervisor any problems related to supplies or equipment as well as information pertaining to the problem.
- Resolve problems independently when circumstances so warrant.
- Apply technical knowledge to produce high quality diagnostic images.
- Provide patient education relating to diagnostic radiology procedures.
- Learn and maintain knowledge of current imaging techniques.
- Identify methods to improve efficiency and customer relations.
- Identify methods to improve diagnostic quality.
Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Working on completion of a Bachelor's Degree, Diploma or Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology.
- Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.
