Responsibilities

• Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of anatomy.
• Demonstrate thorough knowledge and skill and understanding of image quality.
• Communicate to patients the nature of the tests and relieve their anxiety.
• Understand Radiographic Positioning, Radiographic Technique, Radiation Safety, Imaging Equipment, Infection Control and Quality Control techniques.
• Present a pleasant and helpful manner to patients, physicians, subordinates and other members of the department staff.
• Maintain a work area free from hazards.
• Perform routine diagnostic imaging studies, as needed.
• Provide services to all patients, families, and physicians serving this population.
• Ensure that patient examinations are performed in an accurate and timely manner; not to exceed 30 minutes.
• Provide accurate patient positioning, computer entries and filming.
• Maintain an effective use of time, report availability accordingly.
• Assist in maintaining a safe working environment.
• Maintain knowledge of equipment performance.
• Report malfunctions to supervisor.
• Convey to supervisor any problems related to supplies or equipment as well as information pertaining to the problem.
• Resolve problems independently when circumstances so warrant.
• Apply technical knowledge to produce high quality diagnostic images.
• Provide patient education relating to diagnostic radiology procedures.
• Learn and maintain knowledge of current imaging techniques.
• Identify methods to improve efficiency and customer relations.
• Identify methods to improve diagnostic quality.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Working on completion of a Bachelor's Degree, Diploma or Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology.
• Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.
