General Summary
Principal Job Functions
- Performs all types of diagnostic x-ray procedures to include radiography of chest, extremities, skull and sinus, spine, ankle and foot, and abdomen.
- Practices radiation safety for patients, staff, and self.
- Uses sterile technique as required.
- Optimally demonstrates patient anatomy through proper positioning and selection of technical factors.
- Competently operates all diagnostic x-ray equipment and support systems to include, EMR, PACS and teleradiology.
- Utilizes department computer systems, files, EMR and PACS to review patient history and provide accurate documentation of studies.
- Properly cares for and images patients of all ages and maintains patient confidentiality.
- Captures and coordinates exams within the department and with other departments to provide expedient and complete care; communicates with medical staff, coworkers, patients, families, and other hospital staff to assure quality patient care.
- Handles telephone calls for scheduling, coordination, or questions with courtesy and accuracy.
- Participates in the department’s quality improvement plan as assigned.
- Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment as necessary; notifies supervisor of equipment problems.
- Keeps work area properly supplied.
- Accesses and administers drugs and biologicals that are pertinent to essential job functions in accordance with Medical Center procedures.
Education And Experience
- Currently enrolled in an accredited school of radiologic technology required.
- Valid Temporary State Medical Radiographer license required.
Other Credentials / Certifications
- Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required.
