About the role

As a Student Progression Mentor at EKC Sheppey you will play a key role supporting students in their personal and academic development, helping them to reach their full potential as independent learners. Your responsibilities will also include support for disaffected and disengaged young people, helping them to optimise their learning opportunities. Mentoring at EKC is a rewarding role offering the successful applicant opportunities to gain qualifications in Mental Health First Aid, Autism Awareness, Counselling Concepts, Safeguarding & DUST Referrals.

Responsibilities

  • Support students in their personal and academic development to help them become independent learners.
  • Engage with disaffected and disengaged young people to optimise their learning opportunities.
  • Deal effectively with students, external agencies, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ensure all documentation and details of contact are recorded and reported to relevant staff and departments.
  • Maintain excellent record-keeping skills and competency in computer programs including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Adopt a flexible approach to work as tasks can change daily.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Commitment to supporting students to achieve and progress.
  • Empathetic, supportive, and non-judgmental approach.
  • Experience of supporting young people with mental health difficulties (desirable).
  • Competency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Flexible approach to work.

Pay

£22,888 per annum (including holiday pay).

Schedule

  • 37 hours per week.
  • Monday to Thursday: 08:30–17:00.
  • Friday: 08:30–16:30.
  • Term-time only contract.
