About the role
Assists the Center Director in meeting the goals and objectives of the center. Emphasizes student accountability through training and proper coordination to ensure students are addressed for unexcused absences by counselors, resident advisors, and instructors. Establishes systems for student accountability in dormitories and provides special focus groups for students with patterns of missing class.
Responsibilities
- Prepares statistical data for monthly reports and other disciplinary activity reports.
- Ensures proper recording, documentation, and closure of all disciplinary systems while following Job Corps policies and guidelines.
- Provides staff with written feedback on incidents of student behavior, disciplinary reports, serious incident reports, and restriction lists weekly.
- Ensures the proper functioning of the Student Behavior Management Council (Peer Review), including training board members, supervising elections, and overseeing hearings.
- Assists in monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the student leadership program and activities through Career Development Services Systems (CDSS).
- Maintains active involvement and coordination with Case Management Teams to evaluate student progress and performance.
- Establishes and maintains dorm and education courts to encourage student participation and positive behavior.
- Ensures student leaders are actively involved in center operations.
- Provides behavior management training to all staff annually and within 30 days for new hires.
- Updates and aligns the behavior management plan with CDSS at all levels/phases.
- Provides special programs to recognize positive behavior changes.
- Supports adherence to the CDSS plan and Code of Conduct system, ensuring the PCDP is used effectively.
- Adheres to property control policies, DOL guidelines, OFCCP regulations, and center policies.
- Maintains good housekeeping and complies with safety practices.
- Models and mentors appropriate Career Success Standards.
- Evaluates personnel and makes recommendations for disciplinary actions, promotions, or merit increases.
- Responsible for overall Center Outcome Measurement performance goals, Quarterly Student Safety/Satisfaction Survey, and other measurable performance indicators.
- Attends and participates in required training sessions; conducts training as necessary.
- Trains staff to proactively address negative student behaviors.
- Helps students become more employable through continuous reinforcement.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- One to two years of related experience and/or training.
- One year of experience working with youth or young adults.
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in human services, juvenile justice, or a related field (experience and training may substitute for education).
- Valid State Driver’s License.
